Current Openings Posted May 15, 2013 The following represent brief/broad descriptions. It is not intended, nor should it be construed, to represent a comprehensive and, /or exhaustive description of all duties/responsibilities and requisite skills associated with the position. ENGINEERING DIRECTOR OF ENGINEERING – (Regular Full Time / Orlando): Assist VP of Engineering with design, specifications, documentation, oversight and installation of all systems and equipment. Develop and maintain thorough understanding of existing facilities and work toward making units safer, cohesive and responsive to departments within station environment. Oversee the day-to-day activities of maintenance engineers, technical operators and production personnel, including scheduling, evaluations and training. Perform duties as Chief Operator for stations as assigned and maintain compliance with FCC rules and regulations. Assist with the development and implementation of new methods and standards to streamline operation. Establish priorities to ensure timely completion of projects and repair of stations engineering systems. Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Sciences or related field; formal technical training from military or trade school on current broadcast technologies can substitute. Proficiency with AVID, Sony and Panasonic systems are highly desired. A minimum of five years’ experience at a television station is preferred. Previous supervisory responsibilities required. NEWS ASSIGNMENT EDITOR – (Regular Full Time / Orlando): Responsible for gathering story info from various news sources and determining the newsworthiness. Make decisions on what stories to cover and assign/dispatch crews. Keep news staff apprised of breaking news and changes in assignments. Make beat check calls to law enforcement and other governmental agencies. Communicate with affiliates to ensure continuity in coverage. Coordinate coverage of special events. A minimum of two years’ experience in TV news, including assignment desk experience preferred. Must be well organized and able to manage multiple projects. Must demonstrate outstanding news judgment and good news writing skills. Must be able to deal effectively with people. Must be able to work well in a fast paced environment. Overtime, holidays and varied hours required. ASSOCIATE PRODUCER – (Regular Full Time / Orlando): Write stories for news programs. Select appropriate video and sound for stories. Assist anchors, reporters and producers in preparing stories for broadcast and the web. Work with the assignment desk in gathering information. Produce newscasts as needed under management supervision. Strong creative writing skills and editorial judgment are a must. Working knowledge of newsroom computer systems, the Internet, graphic and production equipment, ENG & SNG remotes is desirable. Must work well under deadline pressure. College degree in an applicable discipline such as broadcast journalism or equivalent job experience is preferred. PLANNING PRODUCER – (Regular Full Time / Orlando): Plan coverage and produce content for our 5 ½ morning news block. Work closely with executive producers, producers and reporters to ensure that stories are enterprised and accommodated in newscasts. Daily duties include researching story ideas, booking guests, conducting interviews, and producing stories & segments for the newscasts. Understand the logistics of the assignment desk and the needs of a newscast through a producer’s eyes. Work with web site in developing stories, segments and projects to work in conjunction with newscasts. College degree in broadcast journalism or other related field. Previous assignment desk and/or producing experience preferred. Working knowledge of newsroom computers and the Internet. PHOTOGRAPHER – (Regular Full Time / Orlando): Shoots and edits video and audio for newscasts, news programming, promotion and other station related purposes. Operates ENG vehicles and equipment. Self-motivated, creative storyteller with strong photography and editing skills and a full understanding of live truck operations. Working knowledge of: DVC Pro/P-2 camera systems and AVID edit systems, lighting and sound equipment, and newsroom computer systems considered a plus. At least 2 years experience as a photographer/editor in a television news department is preferred. Willingness and ability to travel for story assignments. Must have valid driver's license and good driving record. REPORTER – (Regular Full Time / Orlando): Use creativity, unique style, originality, innovation, discretion and good news judgment to enterprise, prepare and disseminate news stories in newscasts, during live reports and on the web site. Find local information in an innovative way. Cultivate and maintain contacts and evaluate leads/tips to develop story ideas. Utilize sources to develop substantive news stories. Write creatively and accurately to video. Provide live coverage of breaking events. Take initiative and be a leader in the newsroom. A minimum of two years experience preferred. Good news judgment and knowledge of fair and accurate journalism practices. Ability to tell stories and ad-lib effectively. Strong writing skills and thorough knowledge of current events; must be a team player. Working knowledge of newsroom computers. NEWS OPERATIONS MANAGER – (Regular Full Time / Orlando): Manage all electronic newsroom equipment including purchasing, maintenance and repair. Manage all news video feeds for quality control and resolve all technical and editorial problems with video and editing. Coordinate and ensure vehicle maintenance and upkeep. Manage editing staff and supervise all news video from editing stage to archiving. Train news staff on internet/wireless transmission tools. Coordinate equipment needed in planning of big story coverage and special events including breaking news and severe weather events. Function as the liaison for between the News Department and the Engineering and IT departments. Assist in the scheduling of photographers and editors. Evaluate new technology and make recommendations for budgets. A minimum of five years experience at a television station is preferred. College degree preferred and formal technical training on Avid's Unity system is highly desired. Thorough knowledge of electronic newsroom equipment. Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills. Detail oriented. SALES WOFL/WRBW ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE – (Regular Full Time / Orlando): Develop understanding of FOX35 and MY65's product. Market the stations to the advertising community. Produce and present effective sales strategies to existing and developed accounts that solve client problems and increase station revenues. Develop relationships with developmental retail clients, existing TV advertisers and their agencies. College degree and a minimum of two years work experience preferred. Candidate should possess top communication skills and be service oriented. Experience with new business development preferred. Knowledge of Scarborough, NSI, Enterprise, TV Scan and general computer skills a plus. Must have valid driver's license. WOGX LOCAL SALES ASSISTANT – (Regular Full Time / Gainesville): Assist General Sales Manager and account representatives with the scheduling, input, checking and revision of orders to accommodate client business. Work with local account representatives on client visit preparations, generating proposals, graphics and avails. Manage database applications. Resolve customer service issues and inquiries such as credit memos and discrepancies. Perform general clerical duties including copying, faxing, and mailing. Maintenance of office supply inventory. Handle incoming phone calls and route appropriately. Computer literacy in Word, PowerPoint, Access and Excel. Must be detail oriented and have excellent organizational and time management skills. Prior knowledge of Wide Orbit and experience in the broadcast/advertising industry are considered a plus. This position is in our Gainesville office. WOGX ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE – (Regular Full Time / Gainesville): Develop understanding of FOX51's product. Market the station to the advertising community. FSS SALES CCORDINATOR – (Regular Full Time / Miami): Assist Regional Sales Manager and Account Executive in all administrative duties; prepare billing reports for various projects; handle rate cards and program schedules; prepare CMR reports and agency lists; daily contact with agency and station personnel; also includes transmitting orders to/from agency and stations; maintaining accounts for changes, cancellations, revisions and allocations; other duties as assigned. Candidate must be proficient in Donovan and One Domain software, Microsoft Word and Excel software; have excellent phone manner, organizational and communication skills; ability to work well under pressure and be a "team player;" college degree preferred.
