Bowling coming to Downtown Disney

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - A 50,000-square-foot bowling, billiards, dining and nightlife entertainment center is planned for Downtown Disney’s West Side.

It will be called Splitsville and will be located in the old Virgin Megastore, which presently houses RIDEMAKERZ, a store were you build your own toy car. RIDEMAKERZ will be moved to the marketplace area of Downtown Disney.

In November, Disney announced that it would "re-imagine" Pleasure Island , bringing in new shops and restaurants under the name Hyperion Wharf. We have learned this week that the Hyperion Wharf project has been delayed indefinitely. Many of the Pleasure Island nightclubs, which closed in 2008, have since been razed, but Disney is not providing a specific timetable for construction of all future Downtown Disney projects.

Instead, Disney is touting the newly expanded LEGO Imagination Center, AMC's first Dine-In Theatre in Florida and Orlando Harley-Davidson, which recently opened its newly expanded 3,635-square-foot store at Downtown Disney West Side. Later this summer, Apricot Lane Boutique, a specialty retail store that offers celebrity-inspired branded apparel, fashion jewelry, handbags and accessories, will open in the space the Harley-Davidson store previously occupied on Pleasure Island.
