Baby manatee rescued in Sebastian Inlet dies

An orphaned manatee that was rescued by animal care experts from SeaWorld Orlando and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) Wednesday at Sebastian Inlet has died.

The orphaned calf was between three and six months old.  SeaWorld's animal rescue team said she appeared to be stable upon arrival but often times underlying factors mask health problems affecting the animal.   A necropsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death.
