Diabetes Restaurant Month program to challenge restaurants in Orlando to create diabetes-friendly menu items. Earl, who has type 2 diabetes and a family history of the disease, wants to help show people with diabetes that its possible to enjoy delicious meals out with family and friends without sacrificing their health by making smart menu choices.
More than one-third of Americans daily calorie intake comes from food eaten outside the home, including sit-down restaurants and fast-food establishments. The more than 20 million people in the U.S. and who have type 2 diabetes not only have a lot to learn about how to shop for and prepare foods that are diabetes-friendly, but also are faced with the challenge of identifying healthy meal options when dining out.
Chef Michael Rumplik, Rosen Centre Executive Chef stopped by with some diabetes friendly recipes Thursday.
