According to a recent study conducted by health day news, people who are easily embarrassed are more trustworthy, more generous and more likely to be monogamous.

Sounds like a great person, right? But most of us do not like to be embarrassed, especially if it involves someone else. We feel bad and want to make it right.

Life Coach Jennifer Lee stopped by Good Day Monday with a few tips on how to handle and overcome those embarrassing moments.

Be calm: Although it is perfectly natural to be flustered and want to jump in and right the wrong the second the words leave your mouth, take a moment and make sure that you have done something wrong - or that the other party is offended. Many times we think things have gone astray, when they really haven't.

Own it!: Once you realize you have done or said something wrong - acknowledge and apologize immediately. Don't wait for the other party to bring it your attention or hope that it will just blow over. Make it a real apology, highlighting exactly what you did and why you are sorry.

Make it right: If your faux pas caused someone else to be embarrassed, then ask them how you can make things right. Do you need to correct some information you have given to someone else? The onus is on you to make things right - do it, quickly.

Let it go: If after you have given it your best shot and your friend or colleague is still hurt by the scenario, then you have to let it go. Don't continue to barrage her with apologies and beg or forgiveness, this is uncomfortable for them and only keeps you from moving forward in your life.

Never again: Hopefully this embarrassing blunder has taught you something and now it's time to move on. Use this experience and to become more aware of situations that could increase the likelihood of you putting your foot in your mouth. As an example: if your blunder occurred while having a really "good time" at a friends birthday party you might want to limit how much fun you have the next time...2 drink maximum!
