Senate health bill's "bo-tax"

On Saturday, Senate Democrats are set to test vote their latest health care reform bill, and in it, are a lot of taxes. One of the most talked about taxes is what's been dubbed now the "Bo-Tax," a five percent tax on all elective cosmetic surgery.

Here's the catch, according to those opposed to the idea.  Winter Park plastic surgeon Dr. Brian Joseph says according to studies, most people who choose cosmetic surgery these days make under $60,000.!

Dr. Joseph says 71 percent of cosmetic surgery clients make less than $60,000. Dr. Joseph laments, "President Obama promised to not tax anyone making under $250,000, and this clearly is in direct opposition to that promise."

The bill contains many other taxes and fees too, and, of course, has a ways to go.

Dr. Joseph also points out that, even if that new Senate bill did pass, the taxes will kick in years before the new benefits do. He wonders if that reserve of cash will be safe.

Proponents say the 5 percent tax on elective cosmetic surgery is estimated to raise $5 billion over a decade.
