PETCO Assistant Manager

This position is responsible for the sales and operation of the PETCO store in the absence of the General Manager and directly responsible for ensuring hourly associates are scheduled in the appropriate department on a daily basis.

Additionally, ensures that store staff meets customer service standards and payroll targets, ensures that every associate receives the prescribed training and meets the required qualifications for their position.

This position is responsible for all front end and cashier activities. Performs all special or other projects as assigned.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or its equivalent (GED) is required. Some college coursework or college degree is preferred.

Previous experience as a PETCO department manager or higher /equal position with another retailer.

Prior supervisory experience required.

Must be able to demonstrate an aptitude for training, motivation and sales technologies, analytical abilities.

The position is in constant contact with customers and store associates; therefore successful incumbents must have good interpersonal, written and oral communication skills and have a professional appearance or demeanor.

Must be able to lift 50 lbs and pull 2000 lbs utilizing material handling equipment.
