Gift card tracking "apps"

LAKE MARY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Gift cards make a great last-minute gift, but they can easily be forgotten or misplaced after the holidays.

Now, there's a mobile application, or "app," that reminds you to use your money, and it keeps all your cards organized right on your phone.

With the " Wildcard " app, you can load up gift cards for select businesses from the comfort of your home or while on the go, in an instant.

"It not only allows you to track all of the gift cards that you received during the holidays right on your iPhone and you can purchase using them but you an also purchase gift cards for friends and family using that same app," says Lauren Candito with Social Media Solutions. "The gift card has a bar code on it and that will show up on the screen of your iPhone and they'll simply scan the bar code and the card could be used."

And if you forget about those cards, there's an iPhone app for that, called Tango .

"A lot of gift cards will either have expiration dates or they'll have a sale between certain dates. What this Tango app will do is actually send you a text message saying hey don't forget to use your gift card it expires in two weeks."

A third convenient app, called JunoWallet , allows you to track all of your gift card balances in one spot.

"The one cool thing about this is, the Android Juno users can actually use voice activation to enter new cards into their accounts so instead of having to type in all those numbers on your phone you can just read it out loud to your phone," Candito adds.
