It's termite-swarming season in Florida. Pete Cardillo, the "Bug Lawyer," discussed how homeowners can best protect their homes from termites and from disreputable pest control companies.

What you need to know:

Look for wood damage or moisture

If you live in a wood frame home, you should be especially cautious about termite damage

If you have concerns about hiring a pest control company, go to the Deptartment of Agriculture and Consumer Services Web site where they document consumer complaints filed with pest companies so you know which companies are reputable.
