John Palmore said his estranged wife punched him in the nose, so he had to taser her. It happened Monday night on Orange Avenue in DeLand where Palmore lives.
Palmore, 49, said his wife, 48-year-old Khadeja, was so upset about their pending divorce that she ransacked his place when he was out of town on a business trip.
"If someone's coming at you, you don't want to put your hands on them, but you do want to protect yourself and not hurt them,” he said, defending his use of the taser gun. “It's mainly for not hurting them.”
He had purchased the taser gun to protect himself against Khadeja and for security on the road as a truck driver.
Volusia County Sheriff's Deputies were called to the scene and arrested Khadeja. FOX 35 attempted to contact Khadeja at the home where Palmore said she has been staying. We were told she was not home.
Khadeja Palmore was charged with battery, but is bonded out of the Volusia County Jail. The couple is scheduled for a divorce hearing on Wednesday.
