A water main break on Central Florida Parkway Diverts Traffic to Dr. Phillips Hospital. It happened at 5:10 p.m. Sunday, April 26, 2009. Firefighters say they responded to a report of a large water main break, which was causing flooding on the main road.
Central Florida Parkway is closed between Westwood Blvd., and Turkey Lake Dr. With this road closure at Central Florida Pkwy and the I-4 area, traffic heading to Dr. Philips Hospital, will now have to be diverted. Drivers will have to get to Turkey Lake Road (Dr. Philips Hospital) by accessing Sand Lake Rd.
The Orange County Fire Department assisted the Orange County Sheriffs Department and Florida Highway Patrol in controlling a safe driving area for citizens and visitors traveling in this area.
The Department of Transportation, Public Utilities, and The Department of Traffic Engineering are surveying the leak and surrounding conditions.
Water to this area has been restored; however, the Orange County Fire Department will still conduct an area survey of local businesses and area hydrants to ensure operability
