Anthony has pleaded not guilty on charges that she killed her daughter, 2-year-old Caylee Marie, claiming a babysitter kidnapped her toddler. Caylee was last seen in June 2008, but she was not reported missing until a month later. Her remains were found in woods near the family's home in December.
Prosecutors released 1,400 pages of new documents. Among them are pictures of the tattoo Casey got right after her daughter Caylee disappeared. It says "La Bella Vida" that's Italian for beautiful life. A judge gave investigators permission to go inside the jail to take pictures of a tattoo on Casey's left shoulder blade.
Casey Anthony got the tattoo July 3, 2008 which was two weeks after her daughter Caylee was last seen alive. Prosecutors believe this could be a key piece of circumstantial evidence and
Investigators questioned Bobby Williams, the tattoo artist that designed and drew the tattoo, about the day Casey came in for this tattoo. Williams told FOX 35, “She just came in wanted a tattoo. Never questioned as to why she wanted beautiful life. Just wanted nice cursive writing over her shoulder blade. She was acting like nothing happened. Pretty normal. It’s definitely strange now that you put two and two together at the time the child was missing...and she'd come in here and get something like that.”
Crime scene technicians spent 9 days on their hands and knees looking for every possible piece of evidence found on and around caylee Anthony’s remains. For the first time some color photos of what they found were released.
Among the pictures released are images of the duct tape that was found around little caylee's skull. The duct tape is tattered and weathered. Tests at the FBI’s lab show it is not the same duct tape found on a gas can at the Anthony’s home.
Discovery documents note that investigators are getting measurements of it to see if it’s wide enough to have fit over the 2-year-old's mouth and nose.
There are also pictures of the shorts the two year old was wearing when her body was placed in the woods. Investigators also found letters from the shirt Caylee was found in too. They read big trouble comes small. One FBI agent noted "it has been theorized that caylee was intentionally placed in this shirt because of what it says."
There are also pictures of the laundry bag Caylee was wrapped in before being place in a black draw string garbage bag and some of the debris found along with her and a picture of a knife that was found in Casey’s car. Investigators asked for it to be tested for residue to see if it had been used to cut duct tape found on Caylee.
Also in the discovery is the mention of a beige rug from the Anthony’s patio that was seized during search warrant of the home after it lit up under an alternate light source. It was "submitted for processing as it is unknown where the location of caylee's death occurred."
FBI field agents reminded lab technicians that the cause of Caylee's death has not been determined even though the manner has been ruled homicide and "there continues to be the investigative question as to whether or not chloroform or some other foreign substance could have been used in Caylee's death.
