BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - A local Democrat breaking with party lines and President Obama. Congresswoman Suzanne Kosmas says she'll vote to extend the Bush tax cuts set to expire this year.

Bob Frier asked the congresswoman why she's breaking ranks just ahead of the mid-term elections.

Bob says: "The tax breaks will remain for those making 250 thousand or less, we're talking about taxing the one percent of the population that makes more than that, do you really think it's going to make that big of a difference?"

Congresswoman Kosmas says: "Well I do think it will make a difference because frequently small business owners claim their income as personal income, and the opportunity for them to invest their business create jobs and to grow their businesses is really the best approach we could have for stabilizing the economy and then to grow the economy. So I think it's very important that we don't destabilize the economy and this is a great way to move forward."

Bob says: What do you think the backlash from the Democrats will be because of this?"

Congresswoman Kosmas says: "Well i'm committed to my district and what I think is the best thing for the people who work in my district and that includes individuals and business and families that can continue to plan, as I said moving forward in a way that will not break the cycle of recovery, but allow us to continue and stabilize the economy."

Extending the Bush tax cuts is expected to be the big topic of discussion when Congress returns from their August recess.
