Clerk shoots at gun-wielding robber

Cocoa Police officers are investigating a shooting at the Tower Chevron, located at 6 South Cocoa Blvd. (U.S. Hwy 1).

Around 9:25 p.m., a white man entered the store and pulled out a large revolver from his waistband and demanded money from the clerk. The clerk was afraid and pulled a weapon out, shooting the suspect in the abdomen once.

The clerk then called 911, police responded, and the suspect was taken by ambulance to a landing zone and then air lifted to Holmes Regional Medical Center.

He is in critical, but stable, condition and following surgery will likely be arrested.
