MyFox Phoenix Report
A horrific accident in Gilbert, Ariz. as a man accidentally cuts off his hand while working in his garage.
The 52-year-old man was able to save his hand by putting it on ice before paramedics and the fire department arrived. He was rushed to a hospital in Scottsdale and doctors are working to re-attach it.
The firefighters said that the man handled the situation very well.
One neighbor said that the man does do a lot of home renovations in his house.
And the accident is more common than one might think.
"With all the construction out here ... we deal with a lot of amputations. Whether it's fingers or appendages or hands. So we just tell people 'Stay calm' and just get us coming," said Capt. Mike Connor, of the Gilbert Fire Department.
FOX 10's Andrew Hasbun has more on what happened.
