ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Wouldn't it be great if you didn't have to spend so much on gas? Well, how about a car that gets 120 miles a gallon?
Florida's first Ford-built plug-in hybrid electric vehicle," the "P.H.E.V", is not on the market yet but when it is, you'll want one because yes, it "could" actually get up to 120 miles a gallon. "So it's improved fuel economy, reduced emissions, and tremendous a vehicle for people who want fuel economy but also want the versatility of being able to drive long distances, " said Greg Frenette, from Ford Motor Company.
Ford and Progress Energy have been testing a fleet of 21 of the cars across the country including here in central Florida.
It's great for the environment and the mileage is great for our wallets but here's another way we can save some cash. "What you can do is program the vehicle and tell the meter, i want to charge at midnight, when rates are cheaper, or i'm willing to accept interruptable service for a lower rate,” said Frenette.
