Woman fought off purse snatcher

GROVELAND, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Lake County Sheriff’s deputies said a woman was able to fight off a man attempting to steal her purse on Wednesday night.

Officers said the victim was driving home along Douglas Road in Groveland around 11 p.m. when she stopped near a white car parked along the road as if it were broken down.

The woman said a black man opened her passenger side door, got in her car and attempted to take her purse. Investigators said the woman resisted the man and was hit in the face.
