Beachgoer run over by golf cart

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. - A woman was run over by a golf cart on the beach Monday afternoon in Volusia County. Beach Patrol officials said the woman was med-evacuated as a precaution. The woman, who has not been identified, did not have life threatening injuries from the impact.

The woman and a man were laying next to each other in chairs. Beach Patrol officials said the golf cart went right over the man but apparently ran over the woman. The driver walked away after the incident.

The golf cart driver, 22-year-old Ontario woman Cynthia Bell, was arrested for reckless driving. The incident marks the fifth incident of someone getting run over on the beach so far in 2009. Of those incidents, two have involved golf carts and the other two involved vehicles.
