LAKELAND, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - A Department of Corrections Officer was arrested Monday after she attempted to purchase prescription drugs from an undercover detective, according to Polk County deputies.
Detectives said 51-year-old Deborah Frisina drove from her New Port Richey home to Lakeland to purchase Diazepam without a prescription. Frisina met with the undercover detective in the parking lot of the Winghouse off South Florida Avenue.
The undercover detective sold Frisina 300 pills for $240 and was also requested to sell Oxycodone. The corrections officer stated that she was buying the pills for her personal use to manage pain once she was arrested.
Frisina was employed by the Florida Department of Corrections and was based at the Zephyrhills Correctional Institute off Gall Boulevard. Her employers have been notified of her arrest.
Frisina was charged with various drug charges. She was taken to the Polk County Jail where she is schedule to make her first appearance at 1 p.m.
