Church fire in Marion County

MARION COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Firefighters from eight stations responded to a Tuesday night fire at the First Baptist Church of Summerfield at 14550 S.E. 65th Court in Marion County.

When crews arrived on scene, the church’s detached community center was approximately 25 percent involved. Firefighters called the fire under control at 10:29 p.m.

The building was unoccupied, and no one reported injuries.

Marion County Fire Rescue and the Florida State Fire Marshal’s Office are investigating the cause of the fire, but investigators say they believe that it started in the utility room.
