A woman charged with attempted first degree murder in the shooting her husband inside their home in The Villages Thursday night was denied bond Friday.

Just after 4:00 p.m. Thursday deputies from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office responded to their home on Bloomington Place where they found Dennis Textor, 59, bleeding from two gun shot wounds to the chest area.

Textor told deputies that he was taking a shower when his wife, 51-year-old Denise Textor, entered the bathroom and shot him twice.  He left the home through the bathroom window and went to his neighbors’ house. He was later airlifted to Orlando for medical treatment.

After a four hour standoff with police, Denise Textor surrendered without incident and was charged with attempted first degree murder.  She showed little emotion in court. "I'm retired," said Textor. She and her husband moved to The Villages in the spring of 2005.

According to public records. the Textors paid nearly $300,000 for their 2400 square foot home. The couple moved to Florida from New Jersey. Friends say this was a first marriage for Denise, a second for Dennis. They met while working for the Bergen County Prosecutors Office. Dennis was an assistant chief law enforcement officer. Denise was a detective.

Neighbors say the pair looked to be a happy couple. Both loved sports and socializing with friends. Detectives say the pair had both played golf Thursday morning.

One friend told FOX 35 that Dennis was scheduled to play cards with the guys last night. "Her husbands friend tried to call Dennis about playing cards. Denise answered the phone and told him Dennis was in the shower. He couldn't have been in the shower because that was after four," one neighbor told FOX 35.

But, by that time Lt. Bobby Caruthers was acting as a crisis negotiator trying to get Denise Textor to come out of her home. "At first she was angry. She actually indicated she hoped he was hurt then toward the end she said I hope he lives."

Friends who knew the couple best are asking wondering what went wrong yesterday. Lt. Caruthers did say Denise Textor may have hinted at what was upsetting her. "During negotiating she made a couple of comments he's always on my case nothing I ever do is good enough."

Right now Dennis Textor is at Orlando Regional Medical Center in stable condition but remains on a ventilator.
