An Amber Alert was issued on Tuesday for a missing 7-year-old North Florida girl.
Authorities scoured the residential Orange Park neighborhood all day Tuesday looking for Somer Thompson.
Courtney McCue does what she can to find her friend Somer. Courtney's mother Connie says the whole family spent the day searching, "I've got three little girls myself and if they were lost I wouldn't know what to do." They helped look for Somer at this intersection. It is the last place the 7-year-old after was seen, as she walked home from school Monday afternoon. Connie fears the worst, "That somebody's got her, somebody's hurting her. I just hope they find her."
Hundreds of people in Orange Park, have passed out fliers and posted them to store windows.
After searching, Connie and her daughters head to a candlelight vigil outside of Somers home. For young girls like Courtney, its especially important, "Its respecting her. She was a very sweet girl, its kind of sad." Her sister Summer agrees, "I really miss her. I'm glad they're looking for her."
It's been an exhausting day for everyone here, including Connie and her girls, "Wore out." But she's amazed by all the people and feels a certain energy from the crowd, "Just a lot of love and caring. I just hope she comes home soon and safe."
Deputies say Somer's mother was too distraught to talk to the media, she plans to make a statement on Wednesday.
