ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - People living near John Young Parkway and Colonial are on edge, particularly, the women. Word of mouth has gotten around that one of their neighbors was kidnapped and raped over the weekend. "Anybody would fear for themselves," said Mia Hutto, a woman who lives in the area. The Orange County Sheriffs Office tells me a woman was leaving a party at the Colonial Terrace apartments around 5 o'clock Saturday morning.
She was walking back towards her house when someone grabbed her threw her into a car then forced her to keep her head down. This woman told police she was taken to a home several miles away somewhere along Avalon Road in Winter Garden. Deputies say the captors threatened the woman scream and we'll hurt you as they forced her into the home.
Once inside the woman got raped and severely beaten. At one point, six hours later, her captors finally left her alone so she grabbed some of her clothes and ran. Deputies say she asked a clerk at this Circle K to call police, she needed help. Off camera that clerk told FOX 35 the woman ran in, sweaty, out of breath and black and blue from head to toe.
Now other women from Colonial and John Young Parkway to Avalon Road are taking precautions. "I'm going to carry pepper spray," Lavonda Jackson, a woman who lives in the area. Concealed license, that's what I got it for, to protect me and my kids from things like this," said Hutto.
The sheriff’s office tells us that there are two suspects, both a driver and the man who grabbed the victim.
