ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - An Orlando teenager, accused of killing an Orlando Police officer in 2007, was found guilty on Thursday and sentenced to life in prison.

Terry Hugo, 19, was convicted of first degree murder in the shooting death of Al Gordon. He will now spend the rest of his life behind bars -- in Florida, first degree murder comes with a mandatory life sentence.

The day started off emotionally when the slain officer's ex-wife, Beverly, took the stand. She recalled moments spent with him before he was killed. "I remember him sitting there in the garage, blowing kisses. I'll never forget it," she said

Surveillance video clearly shows Gordon using a Bank of America ATM machine in Pine Hills. Homicide investigator, detective Chris Williams took the witness stand against Terry.

"You can see officer Gordon look back at Hugo Terry several times and his co-defendant inside the vehicle area."

Terry was just 17 at the time. Detective Williams testified that Terry and another accused killer, Davin Smith, were trying to rob Gordon, but ended up shooting him in the parking lot of the bank instead.

Officer Gordan walked away from the ATM, that was the last time he was seen alive.

Crime scene investigators, undercover officers, and other first responders took the stand. But it was Terry's childhood friend who provided the most revealing testimony, describing what happened when Terry came home that night.

"He came in, in a panic, saying, 'Davin shot the man.' He just kept saying, 'Daven shot the man,'" he said.

On Monday, Terry was supposed to sign a plea deal in exchange for testimony against the accused trigger man, but he changed his mind. Instead, he chose to take his chances in front of a jury.

Davin Smith, 20, goes to trial at the end of July. If convicted, he faces the death penalty.
