ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say a 23-year-old Orange County Sheriff's Office deputy is in serious condition after a four-car crash on Florida's Turnpike.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol report, Deputy Shane Dickens was conducting a traffic stop early Friday morning when a SUV driven by 32-year-old Christopher Schriefer veered onto the shoulder of the roadway and hit Dickens' patrol car.

The SUV bounced back into traffic and was then was sideswiped by a semi truck driven by 55-year-old Arturo Lopez, of Oak Creek, Wisconsin.

Both Dickens, who was outside of his patrol car at the time of the crash, and the driver he had pulled over, 22-year-old Kerry Velasquez, were taken to an Orlando hospital with serious injuries.

Schriefer suffered minor injuries.
