ORLANDO, Fla. (WOFL, FOX 35) -
The Hope United Church is new along Columbia Street in Orlando; it’s only been there for a few years.
The congregation is small, but people are noticing the good work they do here in the community.
“Our mission is to help the homeless,” Claudia Dyer said, “They just need a little help.”
Now the church needs help, replacing their things. You see, some others are also taking notice; thieves. In the last few weeks, the church has been broken into twice. Their musical instruments were all stolen.
Dyer said she came into the Church to find it empty.
But the Church had a lot more stolen than musical instruments. Several flat screen TV’s are gone, even the air-conditioning units taken in the middle of summer.
Money is not easy to come by for a lot of churches these days and replacing all those things won’t be easy. The good news in all of this is that the church does have insurance and now they are thinking it might be time to invest in an alarm.
The total loss? $5600. Orlando police have no suspects in the case. Another business was also hit nearby. All the crooks got from that business was some trail mix.
