A number of homes were evacuated Wednesday night after a suspicious device was found in a home in the 4000 block of Anthony Lane off Goldenrod in Orlando.

The Orange County Sheriffs Office says they got a call from workers removing furniture from a home where the occupants were being evicted.

Workers told detectives there were signs all over the home warning against the eviction and then workers found a box with a suspicious device inside.

"They saw wires and other components that would lead someone to believe this is a bomb," said Lt. Paul Hopkins with the Orange County Sheriffs Office.

The device turned out to be a hoax bomb.

Hoax or not, whoever put left the device there is in some serious trouble and could face a felony. The Orange County Sheriff's Office will continue with this investigation.
