Home invasion in Orange County

A 14-year-old Orange County girl woke up to find a man in her room, trying to pull off her clothes.

The suspect was caught and is now in the hospital with a non-life threatening stab wound.

Orange County deputies say the man broke into the house on Judge Avenue in the Union Park area Wednesday at around 1:30 a.m.

The teen woke up and ran to the room of her mom and step-dad. Deputies say the step-dad then grabbed a knife from the kitchen and went to the girl's bedroom where he confronted the suspect. They got into a fight and the suspect was stabbed in the chest. The step-dad then held down the suspect until deputies arrived to make the arrest.

Detectives have not released the name of the 24-year-old suspect, but say he has a violent criminal history. At first check, he doesn't appear to have a history of sex crimes.

Deputies say the man is not a total stranger to the family and he'd been in the house before. The suspect is the boyfriend of a former babysitter who used to work in the home, but deputies say he hadn't been to the house in more than a year.
