ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - It's not the most comforting message being sent to parents at Eagle's Nest Elementary school in Orlando through the schools phone message system.
"This is your principal Bernadette Jaster. I'm calling to notify you of an ongoing police investigation," the message says.
Three girls were nearly abducted Wednesday. "They reported a man in a black Toyota approaching them in their car," the message continues.
The three girls were walking away from the school to meet their mother when they say a man approached them telling them their mom wanted him to pick them up. That's when the girls got scared and ran back to the school.
"These bright young women knew that their mother would never send a strange man to pick them up in a car," said Dr. Jennifer Reeves, Area Superintendent.
The district area superintendent says the school notified the Orlando Police Department immediately
"There has been increased patrolling in this area just for safekeeping," said Dr. Reeves.
Parents, naturally, are a bit on edge. Sherry Scott says not long ago, a stranger approached her daughter as she walked home from school. "Trying to persuade her telling her that he had games at his apartments," said Scott.
Orlando Police and the school say they have no reports of other similar incidents but are on the lookout for this latest creep.
The phone message concludes with a warning for parents.
"Please take some times this evening to remind your children that they should never go with someone they do not know."
