The female deputy claims it happened on September 8, 2009. At around 8:50 p.m., the deputy said she approached her unit at the Jasmine Apartments off Goldenrod, near Valencia College in East Orange County. She noticed her door was ajar and assumed it was a family member, according to Orange County Sheriff’s spokesman Jeff Williamson. That’s when she said she came face to face with an intruder. She said a struggle ensued, but she escaped. The deputy said she grabbed her gun and fired-off two shots.
A search perimeter was set up including the Valencia College campus and areas adjacent to Goldenrod Rd. between SR 50 (East Colonial) and SR 417. K-9 units, bloodhounds and helicopters were deployed in the search, but the suspect was not found. Deputies also checked cars as they approach the area. The searched ended shortly after midnight.
According to an Orange County Sheriff's Office report , at this time no suspects have been developed in this case. They say throughout their investigation several findings have been uncovered to question whether or not the crime actually took place.
The report says there was no forced entry and that the female deputy did not want her apartment processed. The report goes on to say that the deputy appeared to be under the influence of a substance when encountered by detectives.
The Sheriff's Office said the case is inactive until further investigative leads are developed.
