KISSIMMEE, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say a purported gang leader who escaped maximum security custody in Central Florida likely left the state hours after breaking free.
The U.S. Marshals Service is leading the search for Michael Rigby, alleged leader of the Bloods in Osceola County. He allegedly burrowed free last month by removing the toilet and sink from his cell wall.
Rigby was facing multiple counts of attempted first-degree murder.
Investigators believe the 21-year-old crossed the state line within hours in a getaway car driven by a family member.
Officials say the mistakes of 21 guards and civilian employees, including fabricated reports and a botched cell search, aided the escape.
Disciplinary decisions against them were expected Friday.
