After ten days and thousands of hours, a Kissimmee man who is a US Army Veteran got the keys to his new home.
Habitat for Humanity built Lee Brown a brand new home and it's eco-friendly. The steel construction is made of 70 percent recycled material.
The cost of materials to build the house, $50,000, was raised through a promotion with Kellogg and Winn-Dixie . Each time customers purchased two of any type of Kellogg’s, Keebler, Eggo, Kashi, Cheez-It or Murray products at Winn-Dixie, the Kellogg Company donated 25 cents to the building of the Habitat home
Brown served in the US Army and Habitat for Humanity thought Veterans Day would be a great day to give him his new home. "I'm loving it, we had our dedication ceremony this morning and I want to thank each and everyone involved in this program. I want to thank them from the bottom of my heart,” said Brown.
Winn-Dixie and Kellogg’s even filled brown's cupboards with groceries and they bought him a new washer and dryer.
Brown’s home marks the 15th house built as a result of this special partnership between Winn-Dixie, Kellogg, and Habitat for Humanity. As required by the Habitat program, Brown contributed more than 500 hours of “sweat equity” with Habitat to make his dream of home ownership a reality.
