ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - The Altamonte Springs Police Department is asking for help is locating an armed robbery suspect. Investigators said the robbery occurred on Sunday at approximately 4:45 p.m. at the Handi-Food Mart store located at 151 Lynchfield Ave.
According to police, a man entered the store and purchased a pack of Newport cigarettes. He left, and then returned after the remaining customers left the area. He approached the counter after selecting a pack of gum.
When the 16-year-old clerk opened the cash register, the suspect pointed a pocket knife at the chest of the clerk, removed cash from the drawer, and then ran out of the store. The suspect was last seen riding away from the scene on a black bicycle northbound towards SR 436.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 30 years of age, 5’10” and 145 pounds. He was wearing a black t-shirt and denim pants. The suspect has a short wavy brown hair and a goatee. The victim stated the suspect had a Hispanic accent, and his clothing was dirty.
