Dead body found in Sanford

Sanford Police are investigating a dead body found floating in Lake Monroe early Saturday.

The body was discovered in the lake off of French St and 17/92 in downtown Sanford at around 8 a.m.

Lt. Mike Horan said police established a crime scene and pulled the body out of the water with the help of the Sanford Police Department.

It appears the body is that of a white male, according to witnesses at the scene.
