A popular Seminole County teacher was killed in a car crash Sunday night. 42-year-old Christy Reynolds died in a crash on State Road 46 near Sanford. Police say she was going to dinner with her sister Tracy Fitzgerald and two children when a jeep plowed into their Honda.
Monday students and staff at Crooms Academy in Sanford wore purple ribbons to honor Reynolds. They also put up banners and posted blogs for the popular English and social studies teacher.
The school's principal, Connie Collins, says Reynolds was the first teacher she hired at the magnet school ten years ago. "She was a master teacher. She was a mentor to students and other teachers and she was a friend to a lot of people.”
Christy's relatives are expected to recover from their injuries. Reynolds was a teacher for 20 years in Seminole County. She taught at Lyman High School for ten years. Her father, mother and three sisters all spent their careers educating children in Seminole County.
