According to Brittany Higgs, Monday was the first time Vincent Marchese spent time with her 3 year old son , Alex. Higgs tells FOX 35 that even though Marchese had just gotten out of jail on last weekend, she felt perfectly safe having him around her son. Now she regrets that decision.

"They were just supposed to go to the vending machine and get a drink. That was it," said Higgs. But that wasnt what happened.

For a week, 22 year old Brittany Higgs was fighting severe back pain. Finally yesterday afternoon, "Couldn't take it any more it hurt," said Higgs.

So, she left her one year old baby girl with her grandmother. Brittany, her friend Vincent Marchese and her three year old Alex went to the hospital. While in the exam room Alex got thirsty. Brittany allowed her friend to take her son to get a drink.

"The doctor came about 5 minutes after they left. The nurse came 10 minutes after that and said I'm okay to leave. They were no where to be found," said Brittany. Brittany walked around looking for her son and friend. Then got security involved. When security couldn't find the pair either, they called 911. "Worst feeling ever," said Brittany. Police say Marchese had taken Brittany's car too.

"I was freaking out." "Any chance he was doing drugs or anything bad with your son with him" FOX 35 asked. "I hope not. I pray not," said Brittany.

About 4 hours later police finally caught up with Marchese in Casselberry. "What happened?" she asked her son. "In the bush," said little Alex. "The car went in the bush," she asked her son. "How did he end up in the bush?" FOX 35 asked. "Was Vincent driving crazy?" the little boy replied by nodding yes.

That's about all little Alex remembers, Marchese crashing into police cruisers, and some bushes. Police say Marchese took off leaving the tot in the car. "I don't care how scared you are. That's something you just don't do," said Brittany. Police finally caught Marchese this morning. Now Brittany has one question for him. "Why...why?" said Marchese.

Little Alex was playing with his little sister and the family's two dogs this afternoon. He has no idea that Vincent Marchese might have done something wrong.

When FOX 35 asked the boy if Marchese had gotten him a drink yesterday, Alex said no. Right now it is unclear where Marchese took the boy for the several hours they were on the run.
