VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Daytona Beach police have a new high tech tool that’s helping them find stolen cars and crooks. It is a system that literally does the work of dozens of people all by itself. The cameras are made by a Longwood company called NDI Technologies .

Two Daytona Beach department cruisers have them; their job is to look at license plates; reading every tag it sees and checking them against crime databases. They actually snap the picture. All the officer has to do is drive through a parking lot or park next to a busy street.

Bob Ransom has been on the police force for 18 years and he knows how beneficial this will be to the force. Ransom says the system is “well worth every dollar.”

“The more eyes you have out and looking the more capable you of preventing crime, or stopping crime.”
