VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - A Volusia County Sheriff's deputy said a man rammed his patrol car Tuesday during a drug bust Tuesday.
Deputy Wyatt Gayer pulled a car over in DeLand Tuesday for driving with its headlights turned off. Deputies said the driver, 29-year-old Kendran Murphy, stopped his car, then put it in reverse and hit Gayer's patrol car.
Investigators said Murphy jumped from the car and tried to quickly walk away. Gayer caught up to Murphy a few yards from the car and arrested him for driving without a license. After searching the car Gayer found crack cocaine, prescription drugs, and 41 grams of marijuana. Deputies said Murphy admitted he had been smoking marijuana.
Murphy was charged with possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of crack cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving without a license.
19-year-old Cherish Bailey was in the passenger seat of the car. Police charged her with possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, possession of marijuana with intent to sell or deliver, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
