The Daytona Beach Police Department is still looking for a man that attempted sexual battery on an 80-year-old woman last week.
The attack happened the morning of July 8th. Investigators say the woman was raking leaves in her yard when a black male in his late 30s approached her from the street. As the suspect walked closer to the woman, she noticed he had a bandana or rag covering his face. The man then grabbed the woman by her arms and pushed her towards the shed located in the backyard. The woman yelled as loud she could while the man covered her mouth with his hand. Once he got her on the ground behind the shed, the man removed her shorts and tried to sexually assault her but was unsuccessful.
The suspect fled northbound towards Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune Blvd. The woman described him as being about 5’ 7’ tall, medium build, wearing dark jeans and a blue and white horizontal striped shirt.
Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Elaina Golsen at 386-671-5205.
