DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -
Two Daytona Beach police officers are on administrative leave after they were arrested and charged with felony criminal mischief.
According to the police report, the trouble began for officers Donald Aldridge and Justin C. Ranum on August 9th when they responded to a mobile home on North Beach Street looking for the resident’s car which had been part of a fleeing and eluding incident.
The officers made contact with the resident, Sandra Haley and told her they were looking for her boyfriend. Haley allowed the officers to search her mobile home, but the boyfriend was not found.
Haley said she left the residence for the evening and when she returned the next day she found extensive damage to the home.
According to a neighbor, they witnessed the officers return to the residence after Haley left. One officer pried open a window to gain access to the home. The other officer kicked down the front door. While one officer was inside the home, the other was beating the side of the trailer with a baton.
Investigators were able to substantiate the claims including finding dents in the side of the home consistent with a police baton.
Both officers were charged and arrested Thursday morning and taken to jail where they were booked in. Their bail was set at $1000.00 each and both were placed on administrative leave with pay.
