VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Volusia County deputies say on Monday night a man called 911 claiming he was robbed at knifepoint near New Smyrna Beach, and that the robber took off with his bottle of oxycodone.
Deputies say 22-year-old Timothy Maas pointed them in the direction of a grassy field, but no tracks or evidence were found.
Deputies say Maas eventually admitted that he had lost his bottle of pills and hoped that a 911 call faking a robbery would secure him a replacement prescription.
Maas was charged with filing a false police report, misuse of 911, and resisting arrest without violence. He was booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail in Daytona Beach without further incident.
