DELAND, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Investigators are actively searching for the suspects who took aim at a 16-year-old student from DeLand High School.
The teen was shot in the hand with a bb gun pellet early Tuesday morning while walking along Plymouth Avenue. "All I heard was yelling and I turned around and her gun shots," said William Lahr.
The teen told FOX 35 that he thought he was shot with a handgun because the pain was so severe that his right hand felt like it was on fire.
The unsuspecting teen says as soon as he heard the shots he tired to take cover but the shots continued to ring out. After an older model van drove off from the scene, the boy made his way to the school nurse who called 911.
Thankfully the victim is okay, but his mom says the prank was just uncalled for and investigators are not taking this case lightly. They are actively keeping an eye out for the suspects and tracking leads in this case.
