Grandfather charged with battery on girl

A grandfather from South Daytona is behind bars charged with sexual battery on a chil.

On Saturday South Daytona Police investigators say Ronald Clark Thornton took one of his granddaughter's 7-year old friends into the bathroom during a sleepover and performed a sex act on her.

Thornton has been charged with sexual battery upon a person less than 12 years of age and is being held in the Volusia County branch jail on no bond.
