One dead in 1-car crash on I-95

The Florida Highway Patrol reports that one person is dead following a one-car accident along southbound lanes of Interstate 95. The accident occurred around 5:40 p.m. Tuesday evening near Mims in Brevard County.

Troopers said the driver of a 2006 Ford Focus, Britiani Davis, 21, of Lake City, lost control of her car and rolled across the median and onto northbound lanes of the interstate. An adult and a child were both ejected from the vehicle which led to the brief closure of northbound lanes.

Davis and two passengers, Sammie Worthy, 19, of Sunrise and her 1-year-old son, Brittin Davis, were all transported to hospitals for treatment. A third passenger, Helen Buiey, 60, of Lake City, died at the scene from injuries sustained in the accident.

The crash remains under investigation and the FHP reports that charges are pending.
