(NewsCore) - Jennifer Lopez is close to sealing a deal to serve as a judge on the upcoming season of ’American Idol,’ a source told TMZ Thursday.
A source told the celebrity website that the "Jenny from the Block" singer had not overwhelmed FOX executives with her diva demands -- contrary to earlier reports. A FOX deal with Lopez could be finalized as early as next week.
"It's been typical negotiating," the ’Idol’ source said.
On August 11, People Magazine quoted another source who said FOX executives ceased negotiations with the 41-year-old star because they grew tired of her impossible requests.
’Her demands got out of hand,’ the source told the magazine in early August. ’FOX had just had enough.’
The report of a J.-Lo deal comes as Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler, 62, has been rumored to be the top choice to serve as a judge on the show’s 10th season.
Founding judge Simon Cowell left the show after nine seasons and FOX announced in July its rookie judge, comedian Ellen DeGeneres, would not continue after her one-season stint.
No announcement has been made on whether remaining judges Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi will stay on but reports have suggested that DioGuardi will not return.
The show's producer, Nigel Lythgoe, expressed hope at having Jackson back as a judge when asked about it on the Emmy red carpet on August 29.
A FOX spokeswoman had no comment on who would or would not appear as a judge on the singing competition.
FOX television is owned by News Corp., which also owns NewsCore.
