(NewsCore) - NBA star Kobe Bryant underwent successful surgery to repair his injured knee, the Los Angeles Lakers announced Friday.
Bryant, a 12-time NBA all-star, underwent arthroscopic surgery on the right knee last week.
He is expected to be ready for the start of the team's training camp on September 25.
The club said Bryant, 31, was undergoing rehab on the knee in the hope to be fully recovered for next season.
During the Lakers' playoff run last season, Bryant had doctors drain the knee to reduce swelling and battled other minor injuries to lead the Lakers to their second straight title.
It is the third time Bryant has had surgery on the knee and he was forced to sit out four of the Lakers' final five regular-season games last season because of the injury.
