MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - David Price pitched eight scoreless innings to win five straight starts for the first time in his major league career, and the Tampa Bay Rays beat the Minnesota Twins 5-1 Saturday night for their fourth consecutive victory. Price (10-7) gave up four hits, matching his season low, and struck out nine to increase his major league-leading total to 173. Jake McGee got two outs for his eighth save in nine chances, completing a five-hitter.
MIAMI (AP) - All-Star Tim Hudson pitched into the eighth inning and got the run support he needed as the San Francisco Giants beat the Miami Marlins 5-3 on Saturday night. Giancarlo Stanton hit his National League-best 23rd home run for Miami, which has lost six straight. Marlins All-Star starter Henderson Alvarez (6-5) departed with a bruised left shin after being hit by a grounder by Joe Panik in the third.
OOLTEWAH, Tenn. (AP) - P.J. Maguire won the 108th Southern Amateur by shooting a 1-under 71 on a wet and windy Saturday at The Honors Course. The senior sports management major at North Florida finished with a 284 total and a three-stroke victory. Maguire began playing conservatively when others struggled. He also earned a berth in the PGA Tour's Arnold Palmer Invitational in Orlando.
JOLIET, Ill. (AP) - Chase Elliott held off Trevor Bayne to win the Nationwide Series stop at Chicagoland Speedway on Saturday night. Elliott had a strong car all day long for JR Motorsports, qualifying third and leading the most laps during the race. Bayne tried to chase him down on fresh tires in the final laps, but ran out of time. It was Elliott's third victory of the year, following wins at Texas and Darlington.
