Anchor

Mark Wilson

Mark Wilson anchors the 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts each weeknight on FOX 13.

Mark’s an Emmy award-winning reporter and anchor with more than 20 years’ worth of experience traveling the world and sharing the stories of the people of the Tampa Bay area. His passion for storytelling began early in childhood and he’d like to think he learned from the best. His father is FOX 13 anchor John Wilson, with whom he’s has the pleasure of working alongside for more than 17 years.

An honors graduate of Florida State University, Mark anchored his station's top-rated weekend newscasts in Raleigh, NC while also serving as a regional correspondent for NBC News. Since joining FOX 13 in 1997, he’s made a habit of reporting from the scenes of many major news events. Mark's been honored for his reports from Ground Zero in New York City, covering Hurricane Katrina, and earned an Emmy for his reports recently following a string of deadly tornadoes in Alabama.

Mark's also the only Tampa Bay area television reporter to visit a military unit during the war in Iraq. He joined a group of Army Reservists from Clearwater near Baghdad in 2005 and received several honors for his reports from the war zone. His experience in Iraq garnered him a rare invitation to speak to U.S. Central Command's Coalition Village, which consists of military leaders from around the world. He most recently made history as the only television reporter in the Southeast to be invited to the White House for an exclusive interview with President Obama and delivered his reports live from the South Lawn.

With roots running deep in the Tampa Bay area after growing up in St. Petersburg, Mark’s active in several charities, including the March of Dimes and Southeastern Guide Dogs. When he’s not spending his free time with his wife and two daughters or chasing his two golden retrievers, he’s probably got a guitar in his hand.
