Darryl Carver joined FOX 5 Atlanta in November 2005 as general assignment reporter. This marks Darryl's professional return to Georgia, where he previously reported for WSAV-TV in Savannah. He much prefers Georgia's warm southern climate to that of Philadelphia, PA, where he recently completed a general assignment reporting stint with CN8, the Comcast Network's television news operation.
Darryl began his television broadcasting career in 1991 as Shenandoah Valley bureau chief for WVIR-TV in Charlottesville, Virginia. Since then, his career has taken him to Savannah (WSAV-TV), Harrisburg, Pennsylvania (WGAL-TV), Cincinnati (WLWT-TV), and Pittsburgh (WPXI-TV). A stint at WJLA-TV in Washington, D.C., followed, returning the Baltimore native to his roots. While there, he served as lead reporter on the Sept. 11 attack on the Pentagon, covered the DC Beltway sniper case, as well as the successful negotiations to bring Major League Baseball back to D.C. It was for his work on WJLA's team coverage of Hurricane Isabel in 2003 that he received an Emmy Award.
Daryl is a 1991 graduate of the University of Virginia.
When not chasing down a story, Darryl spends time listening to music, reading about history and following his University of Virginia Cavaliers (GO HOOS!) and his beloved Baltimore Orioles and Ravens. A member of the National Association of Black Journalists, Darryl lives with his wife in Fulton County.
