Liz Horton joined the Fox 35 news team in October, 2011 as a traffic and weather anchor.
Prior to the sunshine state, Liz worked at WBTV news in Charlotte, North Carolina, the oldest news station in the Carolinas. There she made her news debut as a traffic reporter for WBTV News this morning. After a year of tracking the traffic, Liz joined the WBTV weather team as a weather forecaster. Liz also worked as a reporter for WBTV's popular series, "On the Road.", writing, shooting, and editing each piece that aired.
Liz, a native of North Carolina, had the honor of representing the tarheel state in the 2007 Miss America pageant, after being crowned Miss North Carolina. During her year of reign, she focused much of her efforts on raising awareness and funding for those suffering with autism. Liz also spent much of her time speaking to middle and high school students, encouraging kids to make healthy choices through RJR's "Right Decision, Right Now" program.
Liz is currently studying meteorology at Mississippi State University and will graduate soon with a degree. Prior to studying at MSU, Horton received degrees from the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University and the Carolina School of Broadcasting.
In her free time, Liz enjoys spends time with her husband, Jonathan, and their rescue dog Rocky, a Boston Terrier.
